Second collapse of a bridge under construction in India: Ongoing investigations

Last Sunday, a new collapse occurred at the Aguwani-Sultanganj bridge under construction, located in Bhagalpur, Bihar state, India. According to local officials, the collapse of this structure, at a cost of 208 million dollars, is attributed to “design defects”, and it has been reported that certain parts of the bridge were “intentionally destroyed” under the advice of experts. In response to this incident, State Premier Nitish Kumar has ordered a thorough investigation to identify those responsible and take necessary action.
