Could Kylian Mbappe join Real Madrid? The French player is rumoured not to renew his contract with Paris Saint Germain in 2024, L’Equipe reports.
The relationship between Paris Saint Germain and Kylian Mbappe has become strained after the player rejected Real Madrid and decided to extend his commitment to the Parisian club.
Due to the repeated failures of the team and the criticism received from the fans after their elimination in the Champions League, as well as their poor performance in the league, Mbappe would have taken the decision not to renew his contract. Although his current contract ends in 2024, the player would have the option to extend it for another year.
According to L’Equipe, Mbappe would have communicated to Paris Saint Germain his decision not to renew through a letter sent to the club last Monday.
Given this situation, the directors of the Parisian club have expressed their position, understanding that if the player does not renew, he could leave in 2024 as a free agent, without the club receiving any financial compensation.
Mbappe has only two options: extend his link with Paris Saint Germain or leave this summer reaching an agreement with clubs interested in signing him. Real Madrid seems to be the club most interested, especially after being turned down last year when there was speculation about his imminent arrival in Spain.
The departure of Karim Benzema to Arab football has aroused the interest of Real Madrid to sign an elite striker who can replace the top scorer of recent seasons. Although the relationship between the two clubs has not been the best, Mbappe’s current stance could change things.
Given the refusal of the French player to renew and the need for Paris Saint Germain to sell him, negotiations between the clubs could lead to resolving their differences and reaching an agreement for Mbappe.
