The Berlin Public Prosecutor’s legal inquiry into Till Lindemann, the prominent leader of the Rammstein gang, has been put on hold. This novelty was made official by the Berlin authorities last Tuesday.
June marked the decision: No Investigations in Lithuania
Several women have raised accusations against Lindemann, accusing him of abuse of power and sexual misconduct. The first to speak was Shelby Lynn from Ireland, who claimed to have been drugged during a Rammstein concert in Vilnius. Towards the end of June, the Vilnius Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that it would not conduct any investigation against Till Lindemann or his gang. Prior to this, the Lithuanian police had resolved not to pursue the case, despite the complaint filed by Lynn in mid-June. The Vilnius Public Prosecutor’s Office assessed the details and concluded that there were insufficient objective grounds for legal action, due to the lack of “solid factual evidence”.
Legal Intent in Hamburg and the Words of Lawyers
Lawyers representing Lindemann failed in mid-August at the Hamburg Regional Court, where they sought an injunction against Lynn. His request was that Lynn refrain from making certain statements, including accusations about drug use at the Rammstein concert in Vilnius. The court did not classify Lynn’s words as “well-founded assertions,” but as an “opinion.” Lindemann’s lawyers see the suspension of the investigation as evidence of the absence of solid evidence or credible evidence to support their client’s sex crime allegations. In a statement, lawyer Prof. Dr. Björn Gercke said the decision clearly demonstrates that “the allegations were simply false.”
Aspects of Investigations and Their Suspension
The investigations against Lindemann covered alleged cases of sexual crimes and supply of illicit substances. The Prosecutor’s Office began the investigation in June. However, the legal charges in question were brought by third parties unrelated to the incident. A detailed explanation of the reasons that led to the suspension of the legal proceedings has not yet been provided.
