Today, Monday, June 5, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador led the morning press conference at the National Palace. He was accompanied by Ricardo Sheffield, head of the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), and Javier May Rodríguez, director of Fonatur and in charge of the Mayan Train.
During the conference, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador congratulated Delfina Gómez, who is emerging as the winner of the elections in the State of Mexico, and Manolo Jiménez, winner of the elections in Coahuila. He also highlighted the democratic attitude of Alejandra Del Moral and Armando Guadiana, who accepted his defeat.
“I want to congratulate all the citizens who participated in the elections of Coahuila and the State of Mexico, as they exercised their right to freely elect their authorities. There were no significant problems and citizen participation was remarkable. The second-place candidates recognized those who received the most votes. It is important to differentiate between party and government,” the president responded to reporters’ questions.
He also expressed his intention to dialogue with the winners at the time to ensure the support of the Federal Government, since he considers it his obligation to do so. In this context, the Mexican president assured that it will be the people and citizens who choose the Morena candidate for the 2024 presidential elections. In addition, he emphasized that there will be no finger designations, even among his relatives.
“Some say, ‘We’re waiting for a signal.’ No! I tell them not to wait, not even those close to us. These are the changes,” he emphasized during the morning conference.
He also took the opportunity to send a message to the members of Morena and criticized the use of the public budget to buy advertising in the media, which he considers a shame.
